Rest In Peace, My Friend...
74
This poem is a tribute to my dearest friend whom I recently lost... It might not be the best one I have written but the feelings attached to it are the most intense...
RIP... You will never be forgotten...
One night,
The phone rang.
The words I heard,
In my mind still hang,
Haunting me...
"Raghav, your friend is dead."
My heart skipped a beat.
I felt a chill down my spine,
Even in this intense heat.
The words clogged my mind,
Their burden, I could not bear.
The phone dropped from my hand,
Silence hung in the air.
I gasped for breath.
But it had been sucked away.
I fell on the floor choking,
As my world was being taken away.
My mind had gone bizarre,
Memories flashed.
I couldn't control the overflow of emotions,
Everything... trashed.
I went to the window,
I needed air.
And I saw the park bench,
We used to play there...
As kids.
I went near the bench,
I still could feel him near me.
I sat down and cried and cried and cried...
He was not there to comfort me.
I sat and wept there for long.
But the tears did not seem to stop.
I finally looked up to the sky and said,
"You might have left this world buddy,
But with that our friendship does not end...
And I etched these words on that bench,
~~Rest In Peace, My Friend...~~

Great tribute to your friend. Thanks for sharing and yes, may your friend rest in peace.
Oh my young friend, this was a beautiful tribute to your friend and the special bond between the two of you. Death always shocks us, even if the person is very old and is in very bad health - that final departing just leaves us so very sad and empty. When a young person dies or it is unexpected it seems even more tragic.
I'm glad for this person that they knew you and had you as a friend because that tells me he had joy in his life and laughter because from clear across the world, you and I being friends has done this for me.
I'm so sorry that you have had this pain in your life.
Very intense. I could feel the emotions. I too just recently lost a friend and I understood every word here. If you care to check it out it is called Purple Heart Tragedy. Blessings
Good poem! I like the way you put emotions into words. My thoughts are with you.
Beautiful..When we lose someone we love, the pain is unbearable, but in time the pain lessens. Thank you for sharing...

I wish I could tell you that the pain will go away but it won't. With time, it will only get less intense.
